 The hills of historic Frederick County, Maryland are home to family-owned dairy and crop farms, antique shops, splendid 18th and 19th century structures, Civil War battlefields and Linton Shafer Computer Services, Inc.
We have our roots in the CPA firm, Linton, Shafer & Company. In 1975 the firm purchased the IBM System/32, the cutting edge technology of the time. With no application software available, we took the initiative and hired a programmer to design our own accounting software. As other firms heard about the software we had developed, we unexpectedly found ourselves in the software business. Our reputation grew and we expanded development to other platforms. With the announcement of IBM's new personal computer, we formed a separate corporation in 1983 to develop, market and support our software products. Although we no longer market software for IBM’s larger computers like the AS/400, we continue to support our users. For more than 30 years we have continued to serve our customer base while ownership and management has remained constant.
